Prince Aleksander of Austria (1899-1971), denounced his Divine Right to the Austrian throne after fleeing from revolutionists responsible for the death of his parents. After his divorce from the royal title, he pledged loyalty to Darwinist Britain but remained a Clanker enthusiast. With his knowledge of Clanker technology and interest of Darwinism, Aleksander serviced the Zoological Society of London with his wife Deryn Sharp (1899-1959) for nearly thirty years. He is considered a vital character in the reconstruction of peace after the Short War and a prominent Commander in efforts of World War I. He is succeeded by his two daughters, one son and five grandchildren.

So, I took some fictional liberties and dubbed what we know as WWI to be the Short War and what we know as WWII as WWI. Just because Scott Westerfeld's WWI lasted like- what? half a year? four months?
Assuming non-WWI related issues arise a few decades later, there was probably another war. I don't think it would be to the extent of WWII as we know it, because many of the catalysts of WWII were effects of WWI, which didn't really take place in Scott-la's rendition. But still- a war. That Alek was a prominent figure in- LAAAAAAAAAA!
